Description:
Douglas DC-3A aircraft, serial no. 1911, constructed, November 1936. The DC-3 has contributed more to air transport than any other aircraft. When it was introduced in 1936, it was the first modern airliner able to carry a sufficient number of passengers in such comfort and at such a cost to encourage and promote a healthy cabin environment. Large numbers were used in wartime and to commence commercial operations in the post war period. It is said that the only replacement for a DC-3 is 'another DC-3'.
